Several teams from the KCNI/KBBN coverage area competed at the Burwell track and field invitational on Friday. West Holt won both the boys and girls team titles. Riverside was second in the boys team standings followed by Arcadia/Loup City in third and South Loup was 4th. Arcadia/Loup City was runner up in the girls team standings followed by Sandhills/Thedford in third and Twin Loup and South Loup tied for 4th.
Recapping some of the area highlights, Hayden Griffith of Arcadia/Loup City won the boys high jump in a winning height of 5’10”. Wyatt Stieb of Arcadia/Loup City won the boys discus with an effort of 141′ 7″. Lance Jones of South Loup won the boys shot put with a winning effort of 42′ 10″. On the track, Cache Gracey won the boys 400 in a winning time of 52.18 seconds. Ty Greenland of Arcadia/Loup City won the 3200 meters in a time of 11:05.17. Silas Cool of South Loup won the 800 in a time of 2:10.22. Logan Recoy of South Loup won the boys mile in a time of 4:53.33.
On the girls side, it was another strong day for Jessica Stieb of Arcadia/Loup City in the throwing events. Stieb tied a meet record in winning the girls shot put with an effort of 42′ 2.5″. Stieb would then win the girls discus in a new meet record effort of 147′ 10″. Tatum Kapustka of Arcadia/Loup City won the girls triple jump with a winning effort of 32′ 6″. Elsie Ottun of Twin Loup won the girls long jump with an effort of 16′ 8.5″. On the track, Talli Martin of South Loup won the girls 3200 meters in a winning time of 12:42.21. Martin also won the girls mile in a winning time of 5:55.87. Dayle Haake of Sandhills/Thedford won the 100 meter hurdles in a time 16.09 seconds. Tenley Rasmussen of Sandhills/Thedford won the 100 meter dash in a time of 13.01. Landri Loos of Arcadia/Loup City won the girls 800 in a time of 2:35.7.
In the relays, South Loup won the girls 4×800 meter relay. The team of Erin Fitzgerald, Ava Pandorf, Ivy Tullis, and Ella Cool posted a winning time of 11:37.38. South Loup won the boys 4×400. The team of Dylan Pandorf, Logan Recoy, Silas Cool, and Cache Gracey posted a winning time of 3:37.71.
