Area Teams Compete at Amherst Wrestling Invite

Several area teams competed at the Amherst wrestling invitational on Saturday. Amherst won the team title with 199 points. Cambridge was second and Anselmo-Merna finished third with 135 points. Anselmo-Merna had seven wrestlers medal in the top four of their weight class highlighted by Sid Miller who claimed the championship at 195 lbs. Other medal winners for the Coyotes included Tristan Olson 3rd at 113 lbs., Jarrett Wells 3rd at 132 lbs., Tyce Porter 3rd at 145, Jadon Wells 3rd at 152, Caden Coufal 4th at 160, and Tayte Thornton runner-up at 220 lbs. Other area highlights included Maddox Jones of SEM placing 2nd at 170 lbs. and Clayton Scoville of SEM was 3rd at 106. South Loup had two medal winners in the top four of their weight class as Bo Brennan placed 4th at 120 lbs. and Dawson Doggett was 4th at 195 lbs. Ansley/Litchfield’s Andy Cash claimed the 4th place medal at 285 lbs.
