There are just three games left in the regular season for Classes D1 and D2 as 8-man football teams look to make a final push toward qualifying for the state playoffs. Sandhills/Thedford will host Anselmo-Merna today in the KBBN area football game of the week. The Knights have won three in a row and enter at 4-1 while the Coyotes come in at 2-3 for the season. Both teams compete in the D2-9 district. AM is 1-1 in district play with a win over Leyton and a loss to Mullen. S/T is 2-0 in district play with wins over South Loup and Hyannis. The Sandhills/Thedford defense has 19 tackles for loss this season. Coach Tyson Cox told KCNI/KBBN sports that he has been very pleased with the defensive performance this season.
