Area High School Football Preview – South Loup vs Arcadia/Loup City on KBBN / Broken Bow vs Central City on KCNI

It’s the final week of the regular season for Nebraska 8 man football in Class D1 and D2. The South Loup Bobcats will face the Arcadia/Loup City Rebels tonight in a D1-8 district matchup. South Loup improved to 5-2 last week with a thrilling overtime victory over then 5-1 Ravenna. South Loup head coach Mat Jagelar visited with KCNI/KBBN Sports about the confidence building win over the Bluejays.

“It was a very big win for us.  At half, we were down 20-8 and kids could have just laid down but they just battling and battling and the next thing you know things started bouncing our way and we’re in overtime and ended up winning it.  That’s huge for us.  Now we’re headed to the last game of the season 5-2 so looking forward to the playoffs, kids are excited.  It was a big one.”

Arcadia/Loup City is looking to bounce back after a 4 point loss to Sandhills Valley last week 26-22.   ALC averages 153 yards rushing per game this season.  Tyce Calleroz and Brogan Setlik lead the running attack combining for 658 rushing yards this year. (Stats taken from maxpreps.com)

Today’s game between Arcadia/Loup City and South Loup from Callaway will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com with coverage beginning with the Consolidated pregame show at 6 p.m. followed by the kickoff at 7.

COACH JAGELAR INTERVIEW

Broken Bow will play its final home game and final non district game of the season tonight when they host Central City.  The Indians are 3-4 this season and will look to bounce back after falling to Minden last week.  One of the keys to Broken Bow’s progression during the season has been the development of the offensive line and the ability to build some depth.  Head coach Carlie Wells visited with Central Nebraska’s Sports Source about that process.

“Yeah, you know we’ve played a lot of sophomores at times.  Sometimes its six, sometimes its seven, just varies on who’s in there and what we’re playing and we’re trying to work kids in.  The more experience they get the more they’re going to grow.”

Central City enters tonight at 6-1 with their only loss coming to Cozad 56-55 in double overtime.  Tonight’s game between Broken Bow and Central City will be broadcast on KCNI 1280 AM / 96.3 FM and kcni1280.com.  Coverage begins with the Custer Federal State Bank pregame show at 6 p.m. followed by the kickoff at 7.
