The D-3 boys golf district tournament took place at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course on Monday. The top three teams and top ten individuals (plus ties) qualified for the NSAA boys state golf championships. South Loup and Anselmo-Merna both placed in the top three to qualify for state as a team. Neligh-Oakdale was the team champion with a 355 and South Loup was the district runner-up with a 365. Anselmo-Merna and North Central tied for third with a 372. The two went back to the course for a playoff to determine the state qualifying team. Anselmo-Merna would win the playoff and advance to state as a team.
South Loup placed two golfers in the top ten. The Bobcats were led by Dawson Doggett who placed in a tie for 7th with an 86 and Cache Gracey finished in a tie for 9th with an 87. Anselmo-Merna was led by Colin Cooksley who tied for the 2nd lowest round of the day with an 80 and Aaron Bartak also placed in the top ten for the Coyotes finishing 6th with an 83. The district champion was William Jesse of Chambers Wheeler Central who shot a low round of 73.
Brady Haake of Sandhills/Thedford qualified for state as an individual finishing 5th overall with a round of 81 and Ethan Weems of Sandhills Valley qualified for state finishing in a tie for 9th and 10th with a round of 87.
Mullen competed at the D-5 district meet at River’s Edge Golf Course in North Platte on Monday. Jacob Walker of Mullen qualified for boys state golf with a top ten finish. Walker finished in a tie for 8th with a round of 90. The D-5 team champion was Hemingford and the low individual round of the tournament was turned in by Kyler Lusche of Kimball and Dax Powell of Hemingford who each shot a round of 80.
The Class D boys state golf tournament will take place May 21st and 22nd at Lake Maloney Golf Course in North Platte.
