The KBBN area 8 man football game of the week tonight will feature Sandhills/Thedford at Twin Loup in Taylor. Sandhills/Thedford is off to a 2-0 start this season while Twin Loup enters at 1-1. Sandhills/Thedford is averaging 278 yards rushing per game. S/T head coach Tyson Cox told KCNI/KBBN sports that their goal every week is to win the battle at the line of scrimmage.
“That’s our goal every week is to win the line of scrimmage. If you do that your running backs and quarterbacks are going to have pretty good luck running the ball. I think we’ve done that the last two games.”
Twin Loup has been in two very close games to start the season winning one and losing one. When asked what the focus has been on in practice this week, Twin Loup head coach Mike Kozeal said special teams and blocking.
“Special teams really hurt us last week. We played good enough to win that game. We out yarded our opponent significantly but we had two breakdowns on kickoff coverage and we fumbled a punt. So there has been extra emphasis on the special teams this week…We continue to work on maintaining blocks. Kids go to the right spots and sometimes we don’t maintain our blocks real well. So we’ve been trying to reinforce that and get better at that area of the game.”
Tonight’s Twin Loup vs Sandhills/Thedford game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com. Coverage begins with the Consolidated pregame show at 6 p.m. with kickoff scheduled for 7.
