The Custer County Fairgrounds in Broken Bow was the host site for Nebraska High School Rodeo this past weekend with performances on Saturday and Sunday.
Among the area highlights on Saturday, Anna Clark of Thedford won the barrel racing in a time of 15.62 seconds. Colton Leach of Dunning was runner up in the tie down roping Saturday followed by Tate Johnston of Thedford in third. Emmett Sortum of Taylor and Cody Marshall of Burwell were runners up in the team roping while Tate Johnston of Thedford teamed with Colter Austin of Valentine to place fourth in the event. Other area top five finishers included Cotter Johnston of Stapleton third in the steer wrestling. Shaylee Milleson of Dunning was fourth in the pole bending and Kallan Cox of Purdum was fifth in the barrels.
Area highlights on Sunday included Cayson Johnston of Stapleton winning the steer wrestling in a time of 6.94 seconds. Haylea Miller of Merna won the girls cutting on Sunday with a score of 73 and Karley Haake of Thedford had the fastest time in the breakaway roping at 2.3 seconds. Others from the area finishing in the top five included Cayson Johnston of Stapleton runner up in the tie down roping and Cotter Johnston of Stapleton was fifth in the event. Tate Johnston of Thedford and Colter Austin of Valentine were fifth in the team roping. Emerson Thorberg of Mullen was fifth in the breakaway. In the barrel racing Sunday, Kallan Cox of Purdum was second and Anna Clark of Thedford was third.
