The 48th annual Sertoma 8 man all star football game will take place this weekend in Hastings. Sertoma is dedicated to helping individuals with speech and hearing disorders. Proceeds from the Eight-Man All Star Game help support the Nebraska Speech and Hearing Association. The event will feature some of the top 8 man high school football players from across the state who graduated this past spring.
The KCNI/KBBN coverage area will be represented at this year’s event. Those from the area selected to play for the West team include AJ Starr of South Loup, Caden Zutavern of Sandhills/Thedord, and Max Lewandowski of Arcadia/Loup City. The head coach of the West squad is Tom Thramer of Summerland. He will be assisted by Mat Jagelar of South Loup, Cory Valasek of Riverside, and Ben Kaczor of Summerland. Rusty Fuller of Hartington-Newcastle will serve as head coach of East Squad. He will be assisted by Jarrod Weiss of McCool Junction, Zach Kubik of Shelby-Rising City, and Mike Johnson of Hartington-Newcastle.
This year’s game is scheduled for Saturday, June 21st, at 6 p.m. in Hastings at Lloyd Wilson Field.
