Area Athletes Shine at West Nebraska All Star Games

Scottsbluff was host to the West Nebraska All Star volleyball and football games Saturday.  The 38th annual volleyball match was won by the west team.  The five set match saw the west team win the first three sets by scores of 25-20, 25-18, and 28-26 in the third.  The east team won sets 4 and 5, 25-19 in the fourth and 15-9 in the fifth.  Sisters Kya and Kailyn Scott of Broken Bow were selected as Co-MVP’s for the east team.  Other area representatives on the east team included Jaide Chandler of Anselmo-Merna, Carli Bailey of Ansley/Litchfield, Faith Hernandez of SEM, Carly Jensen and Kaileigh Gilligan of Gothenburg.  Alli Loughran of Mullen competed for the west team.

Kya and Kailyn Scott of Broken Bow – Co MVP’s of East team at West NE All Star Volleyball match

The 44th annual football game was won by the east team 31-24.  The east team was coached by Broken Bow head football coach Carlie Wells.  Keifer Anderson of Broken Bow was selected as the defensive MVP of the game.  There was strong area representation on the east team this year.  Helping the east team to victory included Keifer Anderson, Sawyer Bumgarner, Austin Harvey, Tyler Thomas, and Cyrus Wells  of Broken Bow ; Cass McGinn, Garrett Porter, and Bryce Schmidt of Anselmo-Merna ; Jake Halstead of South Loup ; Cooper Slingsby of Ansley/Litchfield ; Trae Hickman of Sandhills/Thedford ; Nolan Wetovick, Jade Stull, Jacob Weatherly and Nathan Engel of Cozad ; Bronson Long, and Maddox Rickertson of Gothenburg.  Adam Wiens of Mullen suited up for the west team.
