Area Athletes Shine at Central Nebraska Track Championships

The Grand Island Independent Central Nebraska Track Championships took place Monday at Northwest High School in Grand Island.  Several athletes from the KCNI/KBBN coverage area were among the competitors.  Some of the area highlights included Max Denson of Broken Bow winning the boys shot put with a winning effort of 52′ 3.75″.  Denson also competed in the discus where he finished 5th with an effort of 138′ 11″.  Coy Wardyn set a new Broken Bow school record in winning the boys pole vault clearing 14′ 6.5″ to win the event.  Jessica Stieb of Arcadia/Loup City swept the girls throwing events winning the shot put with an effort of 45′ 2.25″.  Stieb won the girls discus with an effort of 130′ 6″.  Noah Osmond of Broken Bow took gold in the boys 3200 meters with a winning time of 10:03.2 and Ty Greenland of Arcadia/Loup City placed 4th in the event with a time of 10:39.18.  Landri Loos of Arcadia/Loup City was runner up in the girls 800 in a time of 2:27.33 and Halle Quinn of Broken Bow placed 4th in the event.

In other notes from the meet, it was noted by Marc Zavala of the Grand Island Independent through social media that Arcadia/Loup City’s Paul Henry was selected as CNTC coach of the year.
