Area Athletes Qualify for the NSAA Girls State Wrestling Championships
Broken Bow girls wrestling state qualifiers Lailah Jones, Zoe Jones, Ida Bumgarner, Stayci Medina Lopez

Girls district wrestling tournaments were held across the state over the weekend. The top four wrestlers in each weight class from each district qualified for the girls state wrestling tournament later this month in Omaha. Broken Bow qualified four for state from the B-1 district tournament held at Plainview. Ida Bumgarner of Broken Bow was the B-1 district champion at 190 lbs. Bumgarner won by a 10-3 decision over Ana Aguirre Flores of West Point Beemer in the championship match. Stayci Medina Lopez of Broken Bow qualified for state as the runner up at 170 lbs. It was an all area final at 170 as Medina Lopez faced defending state tournament champion Rylee Kursave of Arcadia/Loup City. Kursave won by fall to win the district title and advance to state. Zoe Jones of Broken Bow qualified for state as the runner up at 115 lbs. and Lailah Jones qualified for state placing fourth at 120 lbs. Broken Bow finished fourth in the B-1 district team standings with 82 points.  Brett Buss of Burwell qualified for state out of the B-1 district finishing fourth at 235 lbs.

At the B-2 district held at Columbus Lakeview, SEM qualified two wrestlers for state. Ellie Scoville qualified as the district runner up at 155 lbs. and Olivia McDonald qualified placing fourth at 120 lbs. Clysta Brott of Ansley/Litchfield qualified for state out of the B-2 district. Brott was the third place medalist at 130 lbs.

At the B-4 district held at Ogallala, HayLynn Glidden of Sandhills/Thedford qualified for state placing fourth at 125 lbs. and Georgia Wingebach of Mullen qualified for state finishing fourth at 130 lbs.
