Area Athletes Qualify for State Track – Anselmo-Merna (Boys) and South Loup (Girls) Claim D-8 District Team Titles

Athletes from across the KCNI/KBBN coverage area competed in Class D district track and field competition on Wednesday for the right to advance to the state track and field championships in Omaha next week.  Anselmo-Merna claimed the Class D-8 district boys team championship. The Coyotes scored 126 points followed by South Loup in second with 78 points. South Loup claimed the D-8 girls team title with 116 points followed by Mullen in second with 92 points. Twin Loup was the boys team runner up at the D-5 district in Burwell behind team champion Pleasanton. Burwell was the girls team runner up at the D-5 district behind Central Valley.

The top two places in each individual event and the winning team in each relay event automatically qualified for state. Those from the KCNI/KBBN coverage area who were automatic qualifiers for state included
