Area Athletes Named to OWH All State Football Teams

The Omaha World Herald has released its all-state football selections.

The KCNI/KBBN coverage area was well represented on the Class D2 all-state team. Tate Kvanvig and Nicholas Gonzalez of Mullen were both named to the first team offense. Kvanvig and Gonzalez helped Mullen qualify for the state football playoffs this season. Kvanvig was selected as an all-state offensive lineman and Gonzalez was selected as an all-state placekicker. Named to the Class D2 all state defensive unit were Dane Duryea of Anselmo-Merna (LB), Maurice Robinson of Sandhills/Thedford (DB), and Oran Grint of Twin Loup (Athlete/Punter). Duryea led Anselmo-Merna in tackles this season with 84. Robinson had 68 tackles this season for S/T and led the team in interceptions with four. Grint of Twin Loup averaged 40 yards per punt this season for the Wolves including a long of 56. (Stats from maxpreps.com)
