Area Athletes Named to LJS and OWH All State Basketball Teams

The Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha World Herald each released its all state basketball selections for the 2021-22 season.  Broken Bow’s Kya Scott was a girls Class C1 second team selection by both publications.  Scott averaged 10 points and 6 rebounds per game this season.  Scott helped lead Broken Bow to its 5th consecutive Southwest Conference tournament title this season, its second consecutive district championship, and its second straight trip to the NSAA girls state tournament.  The Broken Bow senior capped off a tremendous career by setting the school record for most points scored in a career.  Anselmo-Merna’s Jaide Chandler was a Class D2 second team selection by both publications.  Chandler average 13.4 points and 7 rebounds per game this season.  Chandler helped lead the Lady Coyotes to a district championship and their first state tournament appearance since 2006.  The Anselmo-Merna senior also went over 1,000 points for her career this season.

Clayton Moore of Mullen was a boys Class D2 first team selection by both publications. Moore had an outstanding season averaging 19.6 points and 9 rebounds per game. Moore helped lead Mullen to the MNAC boys tournament title, a district championship, and an appearance at the NSAA boys state basketball tournament. Burwell’s Dillon Critel was a boys Class D1 first team selection by both publications. Critel averaged 25 points and 6 rebounds per game as he helped lead the Longhorns to a district championship and a third place finish at the NSAA state tournament. Carter Mann of Burwell was a second team all state selection by both publications averaging 15 points and 9 rebounds per game.
