Area Athletes Compete in Girls Golf Districts Today

Girls golf district tournaments take place today and tomorrow across the state as competitors attempt to qualify for the NSAA girls golf state championships next week.  The district tournament is a one-day 18-hole event.

Broken Bow, Burwell, and Arcadia/Loup City are among the teams competing today at the C-4 district meet being played at Lakeside Country Club located just outside of Lexington.  Joining them at the meet will be Adams Central, Centura, Cozad, Doniphan-Trumbull, Gibbon, Gothenburg, GICC, Hi-Line, Holdrege, Kearney Catholic, Minden, Ravenna, St. Paul, and Wood River.  Mullen will compete at the C-5 district meet today at Crandall Creek Golf Course in Ogallala.

The top three teams in each district will qualify for the state tournament.  Teams consist of five golfers with the top four scores taken to calculate the final team score.  In addition, the top ten individual places, plus ties, in each district will qualify for the state tournament.  Playoffs will be used in case of ties for the state tournament team qualifying spots.

The NSAA girls golf state championships will take place October 12th and 13th.  The Class C state tournament will take place at Lake Maloney Golf Club at North Platte.
