Area Athletes Compete at UNK Indoor Track Invite

Area athletes began the track season Thursday in Kearney at the annual UNK Indoor Track Invite. Class D was featured on Thursday. Among the area highlights, Luke Bailey of Ansley/Litchfield took home two golds winning the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 9.16 seconds and placed first in the boys long jump with a winning effort of 20’10”. Justin Folkers of Twin Loup had a strong day winning the boys triple jump with a winning effort of 41’3.5″. Folkers also won the boys high jump clearing 6’2″ and placed 2nd in the long jump. Quincy Ryker of Twin Loup posted runner up finishes in both the 60 meters and boys pole vault. Ryan Bailey of Ansley/Litchfield was runner up in the boys high jump.

On the girls side, the top area performance was turned in by LoReena Schauda of Twin Loup who was runner up in the girls 1600 meter run.  Kerry Ryan of Ansley/Litchfield was third in the high jump and Taryn Arbuthnot of SEM was third in the long jump.
