Area Athletes Compete at the Paxton Track Invite

Anselmo-Merna, Mullen, and Sandhills Valley were among the teams that competed at the Paxton Track Invite on Thursday. Maywood Hayes Center won the boys team title with 113 points. Mullen was 2nd with 85 points and Sandhills Valley was third with 74. Wallace won the girls team championship with 109 points. Mullen was fifth in the girls team standings with 55 points.

Among the area highlights, Destry White of Anselmo-Merna was champion in the boys high jump clearing 5’8″.  Kyle Finney of Mullen won the boys 1600 in a time of 5:00.23.  Finney also took gold in the boys 3200 in a winning time of 10:59.51.  Keith Morash of Sandhills Valley was runner up in the 3200 in a time of 11:35.04.  Chase Gracey of Mullen was champion in the boys 300 meter hurdles in a winning time of 41.11 seconds. Isaac Goosey of Sandhills Valley won the boys 800 meters in winning time of 2:07.76. Peyton Paxton of Mullen was champion in the girls 3200 meter run in a winning time of 12:33.69.  Colton Miller of Sandhills Valley was runner up in the boys shot put with an effort of 44’1.25″.  Miller was also runner up in the boys discus with a throw of 125’6″. Harper Andersen of Mullen was runner up in the girls 800 in a time of 2:32.07. In the relays, Mullen took gold in the boys 4×400 meter relay with the team of Chase Gracey, Alex Werner, Justin French, and Brandon Hardin posting a winning time of 3:40.20.  Mullen was runner up in the girls 4×800 meter relay with the team of Harper Andersen, Orabella Heaton, Peyton Paxton, and Riley Hegland posting a time of 10:16.16. Sandhills Valley was runner up in the girls 4×100 meter relay with the team of Saije Phelps, Marianne Zuniga, Devanee Connell and Briley Kramer posting a time of 55.05 seconds. Sandhills Valley was runner up in the boys 4×100 meter relay with the team of Danny Zuniga, Isaac Goosey, Colin Rooney, and Brian Goforth posting a time of 47.49 seconds. Sandhills Valley was also runner up in the boys 4×800 with the team of Colin Rooney, Cameron Berliner, Keith Morash, and Ezekiel Goosey posting a time of 9:53.28.
