Area Athletes Compete at Best of the Midwest Track and Field

Several athletes from the KCNI/KBBN coverage area competed at the annual “Best of the Midwest” track and field championships held Tuesday at Sutherland.

Among the area highlights, Trevor Duryea of Anselmo-Merna was champion in the boys triple jump with a winning effort of 44′ 6.25″. Cohen Rohde of SEM was runner up in the boys discus with an effort of 170′ 10″. Haylee Dimmitt of Sandhills/Thedford was runner up in the girls shot put with an effort of 37′. Ethan Furne of South Loup was runner up in the boys long jump with an effort of 22′ 1.25″.  Colin Wright of Anselmo-Merna cleared the winning height of 6’2″ in the boys high jump but finished 2nd on the tie break criteria. Peyton Paxton of Mullen was runner up in both the girls 1600 and 3200.
