Several area athletes took part in the Best of the Midwest track championships which took place Tuesday in Sutherland.
Among the area highlights, Coby Higgins of Sandhills/Thedford won the boys triple jump with a winning effort of 45′. Jaylen Dimmitt of Sandhills/Thedford was champion in the girls shot put with a winning effort of 39’1″. Chase Gracey of Mullen was runner up in the boys 110 meter hurdles in a time of 41.06 seconds. Peyton Paxton of Mullen was runner up in the girls 1600 in a time of 5:51.3. Arena Fetty of Sandhills/Theford was runner up in the girls discus with an effort of 113′. Third place finishes went to Ella Cool of South Loup in the girls 3200, Harper Andersen of Mullen in the girls 800, Mullen in the girls 3200 meter relay, and Kyle Finney of Mullen in the boys 1600.
