The Arcadia/Loup City football and volleyball teams were among those who were represented at the Custer County Chief Fall Sports Media Bash this past Sunday.
ALC Rebels football team will compete in Class D1 this season and will look to improve on a 2-6 record from a year ago. Ramsey Hunt is in his second season as head coach. Coach Hunt was asked if season two has been a smoother transition for him after a year of getting to know his players and being more familiar with their individual strengths and talents.
“Yes. So football you have schemes and all of that stuff that you want to run. The past school I was at helping with I kind of wanted to bring here thought we might be able to work. Once I got to know the athletes and what they’re good at I’m like I’ve go to adjust my thinking and my style to fit them. So year to it’s been a smoother transition. Got plays drawn up and dialed up that suit them.”
Arcadia/Loup City is scheduled to open the season Friday when they host Hi-Line.
The ALC volleyball team will look to improve on a 9-22 record last season. Skye Griess is in her third season as head coach and said she has been very pleased with the work that this year’s team has put in and is excited to see what the Lady Rebels can achieve this year.
“We’re really looking forward to getting into the season. The girls showed up this summer. They worked in the offseason a lot. We had a really good strength program in the summer and we were able to attend a couple of camps. I think that we’re trending up. We trended up for a first two years with (this group) and this year we are looking to do more than trend. I think we can be a force in the Lou Platte conference. Just like I tell the girls we want to dream big and go for it. I think they have the confidence to do that. We have great leadership this year and we have some underclassmen that are really going to contribute to the team.”
Arcadia/Loup City will compete in Class C2 this season and is scheduled to start the volleyball season Thursday at Wood River.
