The Ansley/Litchfield Spartans advanced to the district finals in boys basketball Thursday night with a thrilling 54-51 win over SEM in the D2-7 sub district championship game at Litchfield. It was a tight back and forth game throughout. The largest lead for either team was just seven points. Ansley/Litchfield led 37-35 at the end of three but SEM opened the 4th quarter with a 15-8 run to lead 50-45. However, Ansley/Litchfield fought back and ended the game on a 9-1 run to win by three. SEM had the chance to tie the game in the final seconds but could not get the shot to fall. Ansley/Litchfield was led by Luke Bailey who finished with a game high 23 points. Landon Schulte also finished in double figures with 11 points. SEM was led by Chance Daake who had a team high 14 points. With the win, Ansley/Litchfield improves to 15-10 and advances to the district finals. SEM concludes the season at 10-12. Ansley/Litchfield will be the #9 seed in the district final round and will face Silver Lake. The game is scheduled for Saturday at Hastings College tipping off at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com
Sandhills/Thedford advanced to the Class D2 district finals by claiming the D2-9 sub district championship with a 43-33 win over top seed Hyannis. The Knights will be the #15 seed in the district round and will face #2 seed Wausa in the district finals. The game is scheduled for Tuesday at Boone Central High School tipping off at 6:30. The game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com.
Cozad advanced to the district finals in Class C1 with a 50-30 win over Chase County. Cozad will be the #4 seed in the district round and will host Scotus Central Catholic of Columbus.
