Sandhills/Thedford hosted its annual wrestling invitational Saturday in Dunning. The meet also served as the Mid Nebraska Activities Conference team tournament. Because of numbers, the MNAC did not hold a stand alone conference meet this season. All MNAC teams with a wrestling program competed at the S/T Invite with the top MNAC team in the final points standings being recognized as the conference champion. That team was Anselmo-Merna. The Coyotes won the tournament with 173.5 points. Cambridge was second in the invitational team standings with 141.5 points. In the MNAC team standings, AM was first followed by Mullen as the runner-up with 101 points and Twin Loup was third with 99 points. Anselmo-Merna had seven medal winners including four champions. Tristan Olson was champion at 113 lbs. Jarrett Wells was champion at 132 lbs. Tyce Porter claimed the title at 145 lbs. and Sid Miller was champion at 195 lbs. Other medal winners for the Coyotes included Jadon Wells third at 152 lbs., Sam McMillan runner up at 182 lbs. and Tayte Thornton 4th at 220. The Mullen Broncos had three champions on the day. Eli Paxton was champion at 126 lbs., Chase Gracey was champion at 170 and Isaac Welch was champion at 285 lbs. Also picking up a medal for the Broncos was Jefferey Forsen who was 3rd at 120 lbs. Twin Loup’s Slate Micheel claimed the 220 lb. championship Saturday. Other medal winners for the Wolves included Garrett Keith runner up at 152 lbs., Quincy Ryker 3rd at 160, and Garrett Scheider runner up at 170. South Loup had two wrestlers place in the top four of their weight class. Dawson Mason was runner up at 132 lbs. and Paxton Bierman was 4th at 113. Sandhills Thedford had four medalists including Brodie Stengel 3rd at 126, Coby Higgins runner up at 160, Rhett McFadden 4th at 182, and Zeb Wilde runner up at 220. Ansley/Litchfield also competed at Saturday’s meet. The Spartans had two medal winners as Isaac O’Brien placed 4th at 152 lbs. and Andy Cash was 3rd at 285.
