Sandhills/Thedford hosted the S/T Knights wrestling invitational and MNAC wrestling championships Tuesday in Dunning. St. Paul won the overall team championship with 174.5 points followed by Anselmo-Merna finishing second in the overall team standings with 142 points. All wrestling programs that compete in the Mid Nebraska Activities Conference attended the meet. Anselmo-Merna was the top MNAC finisher and received the conference team championship. Finishing second in the MNAC team standings was South Loup and Twin Loup finished third. AM had three wrestlers make the championship match of their weight class. Tayte Thornton was the individual champion at 215 lbs. Tyce Porter was runner-up at 165 lbs. and Jadon Wells was runner up at 150. Other area highlights included Chase Gracey of Mullen placing first at 175 lbs. Dawson Mason of South Loup was champion at 132 lbs. and Dawson Doggett of South Loup claimed the title at 190. Hector Estrada of Twin Loup was runner up at 126 lbs. and Keaton Dowse of Twin Loup was runner up at 144. Zeb Wilde of Sandhills/Thedford was runner up at 285 lbs. Ansley/Litchfield also competed at the meet. Top finisher for the Spartans was Dillon Haines who was third at 144 lbs.
