The Mid Nebraska Activities Conference track and field championships took place Friday at the Arnold track facility at Arnold high school. Anselmo-Merna claimed the boys team championship with 127 points followed by South Loup (102) and Twin Loup (80). South Loup was the girls team champion with 129 points followed by Mullen (111) and Brady (106).
Some of the top individual highlights included Destrey White of Anselmo-Merna claiming multiple gold medals. White won the boys high jump at 6′ 2″ and won the boys long jump with a winning effort of 20′ 7.5″. Colin Wright of Anselmo-Merna took home gold in both the boys 100 in a time of 11.14 seconds and the 200 in a time of 22.75. Connor Sutton of Sandhills/Thedford claimed two golds winning the boys 400 in a time of 51.55 seconds and the 800 in a time of 2:04.77. Payton Stienike of Brady was a multiple champion winning the girls 100 meter dash in a time of 13.15 seconds, winning the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 17.02 and winning the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 48.88. Erin Fitzgerald of South Loup won two individual golds winning the girls 200 in a time of 27.59 seconds and winning the long jump with a winning effort of 14′ 11.75″. Paizley Zutavern of Sandhills/Thedford claimed two individual golds winning the girls 800 in a time of 2:32.48 and the 1600 in a time of 5:55.14.
