The Anselmo-Merna Athletic Booster Club will host their annual fall sports kickoff event this evening at the Fubar in Anselmo. The event will feature interviews with coaches and players of the Anselmo-Merna volleyball and football teams with KCNI/KBBN sports director Brent Apperson serving as emcee of the event.
Booster club members Tom Griffith and Kevin Safranek visited with KCNI/KBBN radio Tuesday morning about tonight’s event. Griffith said that one of the most recent projects the booster club has assisted in has been the refurbishing of the gym floors.
“One of the most recent things, this will probably be revealed at a volleyball game I’m real certain. The floor, in both gyms actually, they’ve been completely redone. The main gym we have new graphics. We have a nice new look. It will be a lot brighter in there and then the booster club helped with the graphics, paying for the graphics and stuff like that. That’s probably the most recent thing.”
Safranek and Griffith also shared that the newest member of the Anselmo-Merna athletic hall of fame will be revealed during tonight’s kickoff party.
The event is open to the public starting at 7 p.m. A $5 hamburger meal will be available for purchase.
