Anselmo-Merna and Twin Loup were among the teams that competed Monday at the Sandhills track and field invitational hosted by North Central high school. Some of the area highlights included Twin Loup’s Elsie Ottun winning the girls triple jump with an effort of 14′ 11.5″. Ottun had two other top three finishes placing 3rd in both the girls 100 and 200 meter dash.
Other top three finishes from area athletes included Carlee Bartak of Anselmo-Merna placing 2nd in the girls triple jump with an effort of 31′ 1.5″. Koral Schmidt of AM was third in the girls 400 in a time of 1:04.25. Peter Nuvoloni of Anselmo-Merna was 2nd in the boys 200 meter dash with a time of 24.41 seconds. Justin Folkers of Twin Loup was runner up in the boys triple jump with an effort of 38′ 9.5″ and Alexis Mauler of Twin Loup was runner up in the girls pole vault clearing 7’6″. Quincy Ryker of Twin Loup was third in the boys pole vault clearing 10′ even.
Anselmo-Merna placed third in both the girls 4×100 and girls 4×400 meter relay.
