The 2025 NSAA boys state basketball championships begin today in Lincoln with opening round games in Classes C1, D1, and Class A.
Cozad will open play in the C1 tournament today. The Haymakers are 24-3 this season and advanced to state with a 47-37 win over Scotus Catholic of Columbus to claim the C1-4 district championship. Today marks Cozad’s 12th appearance at the boys state tournament and their first appearance since 2014. Cozad is led by Noah Shoemaker who leads the team in scoring and rebounding averaging 14.6 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game. Cozad is the #4 seed in the C1 tournament and will face Ashland Greenwood today at the Devaney Center with tip time scheduled for 10:45 a.m. The winner advances to the C1 semifinals on Friday to play the winner of Lincoln Lutheran, the top seed, vs Fillmore Central. Ogallala is the #2 seed in the Class C1 tournament and will open play this afternoon against Doniphan-Trumbull with game time scheduled for 1:30. The winner advances out to Friday’s semis where they will play the winner of Concordia vs Sidney.
Class D1 opening round games today include top seed and two time defending state champion Johnson Brock facing Elmwood Murdock at 9 this morning at Pinnacle Bank Arena followed by McCool Junction vs Elm Creek. Later tonight at the Devaney Center, #2 seed Howells Dodge faces Dundy County Stratton followed by Bancroft Rosalie vs North Platte St. Pat’s
Opening round games in Class A start at 1:30 today at Pinnacle Bank Arena beginning with top seed Papillion La Vista South vs Papillion La Vista followed by Millard North vs Bellevue West. In the evening session, #2 seed Westside takes on Lincoln Southwest followed by Lincoln North Star vs Lincoln Southeast.
Opening round games in classes D2, C2, and Class B take place tomorrow (3/13).
