Day Two of the NSAA state track and field championships featured the final day of competition for classes A and B. Thanks to three top three finishes Broken Bow finished in a tie for 10th with Douglas County West with 22 points in the final Class B boys team standings. The boys team champion was Norris with 103.33 points. Gothenburg finished in the top ten of the Class B girls team standings placing 9th overall with 27 team points. The Class B girls team champion was Waverly with 66 points.
Cruze Safranek of Broken Bow was the state runner up in the Class B boys 100 meter dash. Safranek’s time was 10.80 seconds to finish second. The 100 meter dash was won by the defending state champ and current state record holder in the event Ethan Baessler of Blair who posted a winning time of 10.51 seconds.

Coy Wardyn of Broken Bow was the state runner-up in the Class B boys pole vault. Wardyn entered the competition with the bar set at 13’6″ which he cleared on his 3rd and final attempt. Wardyn then cleared 14′ on his second attempt and cleared 14’6″ on his second attempt before going out at 15′ to finish second overall. The Class B boys pole vault champion was Boston Irish of Cozad who was the lone competitor to clear 15′ to win the event. Tyler Trumbley of Gothenburg finished 5th overall in the pole vault clearing 14′.

Eli Coble of Broken Bow competed in the Class B boys long jump Thursday. Coble’s best effort at the tournament was a jump of 18’5.75″. The Class B boys long jump was won by Nathan Axman of Waverly with an effort of 21’6.25″. Broken Bow’s Janae Marten competed in the Class B girls shot put. Marten’s best effort was 34’6.75″ which was 17th best at the tournament. The Class B girls shot put champion was Lovely Hibbert of Seward with a winning effort of 41’4″. Klarissa Dowdy of Broken Bow competed in the Class B girls 300 meter hurdles. Dowdy posted a time of 48.55 seconds which was 15th best at the state meet. The state champion in the event was Addison Darnell of Auburn in a winning time of 44.33.

Maikaia Baker of Cozad 5th in the girls 200 meter dash
