Delton Johnson was awarded a Quilt of Valor Saturday September 27th at his home just north of Broken Bow. Johnson was honored to have 2 of his sons wrap him in his Quilt of Valor. Johnson’s son Matthew and his family were visiting from Texas, his son Mitch and Mitch’s son were also present for the presentation.

Johnson was drafted into the United States Army on March 25th of 1964 and was sent to Fort Leonard, Missouri for basic training.
He then served with the 2nd Battalion of the First Armored Division at Fort Hood, Texas as Stateside support during the Vietnam conflict. Trained as a Tank Crewman, learning the positions of the driver, loader, and gunner, Johnson worked Radio Maintenance and as a Company Clerk.
Johnson was honorably discharged from the United States Army in March of 1966 as a Specialist 5th Class, or Spec 5.
The Quilts of Valor Foundation was established in 2003 with a mission to cover Service Members and Veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor. Quilts of Valor Member Deb Bryner of Broken Bow was honored to make and present the quilt to Johnson.
