Veterans soup supper is tonight in Broken Bow

Today, November 11, is Veterans Day. The celebration is to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. The Veterans Day soup supper is taking place tonight in Broken Bow, a local opportunity to give thanks and support local veterans.

Dell Moninger told KCNI/KBBN that food will be served at the Municipal Building tonight from 4 PM until 7 PM at the Broken Bow Municipal Building. All funds raised will go to support the upkeep of the Veterans Memorial Building on South 1st Avenue.

“We don’t charge a lot to rent it out, it’s available to the public to rent out and this just helps with any little extra projects that come up every year,” said Moninger.

Some events the building has hosted over the years include family reunions, class reunions, graduation parties, garage sales, and junk jaunt sales. The building also serves as a voting location during elections.

Tickets for tonight’s soup and sandwich dinner are six dollars at the door. Chicken noodle or chili will be available as well as sandwiches and homemade goodies. Quilts of Valor presentations will take place around 6 PM.

Moninger said that the veterans of the area feel blessed to receive the thanks they do, “Around our area, it’s amazing what we get. We feel the love a lot.”
