MERNA – At 1:05 p.m. a semi truck collided with a silver sedan on Highway 92 and Rd. 431 outside Merna.
When KCNI/KBBN arrived on the scene, Merna Fire & Rescue and the Broken Bow Fire Department were present, along with Custer County Sheriff Dan Osmond.
An ambulance was loaded and seen leaving the scene, and another was headed toward the accident, along with two Nebraska State Troopers. The driver of the semi was conscious and moving after a brief medical examination.

The Custer County Sheriff’s Office has reported via press release that Nathan A. Rosentrater, age 39, of Arnold, NE, was driving a 2005 Lincoln LS westbound on Highway 92. Robi J. Brose, of Sibley IA, age 53, was driving a 2016 Peterbilt semi and trailer eastbound on Highway 92. The Lincoln crossed the center line and struck the front driver’s side of the semi.
Both drivers were transported by ambulance to the Jennie Melham Hospital. Rosentrater was pronounced dead at the hospital. Brose was treated and released.
The Nebraska State Patrol, Merna Fire and Rescue, Broken Bow Fire and Rescue, Hunters Towing, and Trumbull Towing all assisted with the accident.
