Two men have cases move forward in Custer County District Court

BROKEN BOW- Custer County District court took place Thursday morning with two men having their cases progress.

Cooper Brass, age 24 of Broken Bow, appeared with his attorney facing alleged charges of 1st degree sexual assault and procuring alcohol for a minor. Brass faces a maximum charge of 50 years in prison for the sexual assault charge. Procuring alcohol for a minor holds a maximum charge of 1 year imprisonment, a $1,000 fine, or both.

Brass pled not guilty to both charges and jury trial was set for June 10, 2024.

Brass also appeared on a motion from the state to revoke probation. A term of four years probation was being served by Brass on two counts of stalking, IIIA felonies. The motion from the state alleges that Brass violated terms of his probation, citing violations that include the sexual assault and procuring alcohol for a minor charges from his earlier case.

Brass denied the allegations and pretrial was set for May 16, 2024.

Branden Miller, age 30 of Omaha, appeared on a motion from the state to revoke his post release supervision. Miller was serving the supervision period after being sentenced for cruelty to an animal (IIIA felony) and receiving a sentence of one year imprisonment followed by 18 months of post release supervision.

Miller’s request for court appointed counsel was approved, and a $1,000 PR bond was ordered. A hearing for Miller to admit or deny the allegations was set for April 18, 2024.
