LOUP CITY – The Thunder Bay and West Ridge campgrounds at Sherman Reservoir State Recreation Area near Loup City are closed temporarily because of construction, according to a short statement released by the Game and Parks Commission.
Electrical and RV sites are being added to those two campgrounds. Work is scheduled to be completed in the spring.
Additionally, rainbow trout will be stocked by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission to enhance fishing opportunities this fall and winter. The stocking of trout will begin the week of September 26 and continue weekly through October.
Some nearby trout locations and dates include: Melham Park Lake and Ansley City Lake, to be stocked the week of October 17 with 875 and 1,000 trout, respectively, Lake Helen in Gothenburg to be stocked twice, once the first week in October with 100 trout and again the week of the 17 with 1,900 fish, and Bessey Pond in Halsey, to be stocked with 600 trout the week of October 17.
