BROKEN BOW – The Bissonette family, in collaboration with the Red Cross, will be holding a pair of blood drives to honor the memory of Broken Bow firefighter James Bissonette.
Bissonette was known for his selfless generosity primarily through his volunteering with Broken Bow’s fire department and assisting with local EMS efforts. The firefighter was also a blood and organ donor and passed away in 2021 due to complications stemming from COVID-19.
Both drives will be held in Broken Bow’s Municipal Building; the first will be on Wednesday, July 5, with the second scheduled for 2 weeks later on Wednesday, July 26.
The July 5 blood drive will take place between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Those who cannot make the first afternoon drive will have an opportunity to give blood in the morning, as the following drive on July 26 will occur between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
The Red Cross encourages donors to make appointments to ensure adequate resources; appointments can be made online at redcrossblood.org, or by calling Nicole at (308) 870-6651 to cement a time. A flyer is attached.
