BROKEN BOW- Today, July 29, the Custer County Fairgrounds will be lively with the 54th annual Tuffy Winberg Memorial Free Pit BBQ and the Custer County Classic Bull Riding.
Starting at 5:30 the Tuffy Winberg Memorial Free Pit BBQ will be held in the Shooting Sports Building (building 18) at the Custer County Fairgrounds. They will serve free beef sandwiches, beans, chips, water or tea, and Dairy Queen Dilly Bars.
The BBQ has been called the Tuffy Winberg Memorial Free Pit BBQ since the passing of Larry “Tuffy” Winberg in 2017. Tuffy Winberg was involved in the BBQ from the very start in 1972. When he and his wife, June, moved to Broken Bow in 1970, he became very involved in the community, and became a pillar in Custer County.

Following the BBQ, the annual Custer County Classic Bull Riding will go on. It will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Trotter Arena in the fairgrounds. Over $7,000 in money and prizes will be awarded to competitors. At the gate general seating will cost $15 and reserved seating will cost $25.
Wristbands will be available for purchase at Eberle Boot & Saddle, Grocery Kart, and Broken Bow Chamber Office. Wristbands will cost $20 for reserved seating and $13 for general seating and will be sold until 4 p.m. today. For more information about the bull riding call (308) 870-0244.
