An EF-2 tornado developed in the KCNI/KBBN listening area as a part of last Friday’s (June 7) severe storms. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in North Platte, the tornado developed at 6:19 CT 10.7 miles Northeast of Arnold near Eureka Valley Road.
The tornado featured estimated peak wind speeds of 120 MPH and a path length of 1.82 miles, as well as a max width of 50 yards. The EF-2 rating was determined through damage to a row of powerlines and extensive damage to an irrigation system.
No injuries or deaths are reported as a result of the tornado, which mostly remained over open rangeland. A single-family residence was damaged late in the tornado’s lifecycle.

The NWS encouraged that photos of the tornado event be sent to [email protected] and extended gratitude to Custer County Emergency Management for their collaboration on the damage survey.
