Three in Custer School Case Sentenced in County Court Monday

BROKEN BOW – The Custer County school vandalism case is nearing completion, as three of the juveniles involved appeared for sentencing at the Judicial Center Monday afternoon.

The sentences were uniform, as previously, all parties had reached a tentative plea agreement with the court. The three juveniles presented were given a 6-month probation sentence and 40 hours of community service.

Additionally, the three will be required to write letters of apology to the Broken Bow School District. The court further reached an agreement with the juveniles where no restitution will be required, a change from the initial plea agreement.

A fourth juvenile was expected in court for what almost assuredly would be an identical sentence, though they were issued a continuance.

Additionally, Douglas W. Bryant, 52 of Anselmo, appeared in court to face one charge of alleged third-degree sexual assault of a child, a Class IIIA felony. Bryant’s case moved forward to a preliminary hearing, scheduled for March.
