NORTH PLATTE – Three area students were inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at North Platte Community College (NPCC) over the past weekend.
The induction ceremony included a presentation by Dr. Stephen Chicoine, sociology and criminal justice instructor at NPCC, and a candlelighting ceremony. Inductees were also presented with white roses and gold stoles to wear at commencement.
Area inductees were Micah Brooks of Broken Bow, Karissa Jackson of Cozad, and Gothenburg’s Ashlyn Parrett. Twenty-three other Nebraskans were inducted, including 15 from North Platte.
Rounding out the class were three students from Colorado, one each from Texas and Wyoming, and two hailing from overseas: one from Argentina, and another from Nigeria.
Phi Theta Kappa is the world’s largest and most prestigious honor society for two-year college students, with the Alpha Beta Theta chapter calling NPCC home.
