The 4th of July holiday has a schedule packed full of events that all starts with a flyover from Johnson Lake Flying Service at 10:30 AM. Organizers are hoping for over triple digit entries for the parade again this year.

Immediately following the parade, food and fun is the name of the game as the football field will be home to foot races and the money pile, as well as a display of a Chinook helicopter. The S-E-M cheer team will have a lunch available at the high school gym, and the Sumner Car Show is back on main street for 2024. Music and food will also be available in the park alongside the splash pad for kids.

The second rodeo competition of the week starts at 1:30 PM on Thursday, before the firecracker festival fills the afternoon with options including karaoke, games, live music from the Flatbed All Stars, face painting, cowpie bingo, and more.

Thursday’s fun wraps up with the Sumner fireman’s barbeque with root beer floats and fireworks at the baseball field with delicious concessions at dusk.

Saturday the 6th holds competitive competitions of co-ed sand volleyball and cornhole in addition to the S-E-M alumni banquet.
