“This year, for the Sumner 4th of July, is ‘The Best is Yet to Come.’ And we just feel like, you know, that we are in the good old days, you kind of forget that. But there is more to come, and the best is yet to come. There’s more. There’s more coming down the pike,” said Sumner Commercial Club member Christian Triplett.
After the parade is foot races at the football field, the S-E-M Cheer Team lunch, and the car show. New to the car show this year is a motorcycle class. At 1:30 is the Rodeo. From 4 to 7 p.m., Karaoke will go on in Tub’s Pub. From noon to 5, there will be bounce houses in the park.
At 5 p.m., the parade and raffle winners will be announced. At 5:30 is the Sumner Fireman’s BBQ with root beet floats from the United Church of Sumner. To wrap up the day are fireworks at the baseball field at dusk.
On Saturday, July 5, tours of the school will start at 5:30 p.m. and the S-E-M Alumni Banquet will start at 6:30.
Triplett said to see updates, changes, and what’s going on, visit the Sumner Commercial Club Facebook page.
“I have changes and everything going on in there. And we’ll let you know about what’s happening every day. And I try to post every day this week to let people know what’s going on,” stated Triplett.
