With Halloween right around the corner, some area communities are organizing opportunities for kids and families to enjoy the holiday in a safe way.
Trunk or Treat events, which give a safe and compact environment for costumed kids to walk from car to car gathering treats, are becoming more and more popular across the country every year. Proponents applaud them as a safe alternative to trick-or-treating at night after the sun has set, or as an option earlier in the day for younger kids.
The community of Arnold is having their Trunk or Treat event on south Walnut street starting at 6:30 PM on Thursday the 29th. Those that line the street with their trunk themes (whether spooky, silly magical, or totally unique) will be entered into a ‘best decorated trunk’ competition with a $25 chamber bucks prize.

A glow stick hunt will also be happening in Arnold. Those that find a glow stick with a pumpkin attached will win $7 in Rialto Theatre bucks. Twenty glow sticks total will be hidden and the prize can be claimed with Taylour Snyder.
In Broken Bow, the downtown square will be bustling with kids and adults alike in costumes on Friday the 30th from 3 until 5 PM. Themed trunks will be lined up around the square and businesses throughout the downtown business district will all be handing out a wide variety of treats and toys.
