Callaway’s Nigel Sprouse Memorial Library will be hosting their annual Soup and Pie Supper Fundraiser Sunday, February 1. Lunch will be served starting at 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Callaway Community Center.
According to Library Board Secretary and Treasurer Amber Harrison, the soups will be chili and chicken noodle, but the assortment of desserts is likely to be nearly overwhelming.
“Typically, we have quite the array of pies,” said Harrison. “Your standard apple and berry and that kind of thing. I think last year we had a salted caramel apple, and somebody’s making some danishes or kolaches. Usually, we have a couple of people that’ll bring stuff like brownies.”
Desserts and soup are provided by the Library Board, as well as by what Harrison referred to as “the Friends of the Library”.

“We have quite a few pies this year that are being donated by Callaway Market. First Interstate is donating some other napkins and things like that,” said Harrison.
A free-will donation will be accepted at the event. Harrison stressed the importance of the fundraiser, as the Library is almost entirely donation-funded.
“We have books and we have DVDs, we have a whole bunch of puzzles, and we also actually have cake pans and some audio books. We’re going to be doing the summer reading program again this year, and so we’re excited,” said Harrison. “We really couldn’t honestly do it without the support of the community, both in volunteer help, but also, financially.”
Harrison was excited about the energy being brought to the Nigel Sprouse Memorial Library by new Librarian Karen Snider, along with a handful of new board members. With new ideas and activities coming, enjoying soup and pie while donating to the Library’s annual fundraiser is a great way to show your support.
