Friday’s accident happened near the intersection of Highways 21 and 40 just South of Oconto

Requests came just after the bottom of the hour for jaws of life extrication equipment, and Callaway Fire was called to respond to the scene to assist with a fuel spill. At the beginning of the 1 PM hour, a call was made to have a helicopter sent to Callaway for patient transfer, but that was cancelled less than ten minutes later in favor of ground transportation.

Two semi trucks were left severely damaged as a result of the accident. One was left sitting in the roadway without a trailer with driver side damage. The other came to rest on its driver side with its trailer twisted into the air behind it. Accident scene witnesses told KCNI/KBBN it appeared the trailer from the semi left in the roadway was also near the semi that was off of the road.

Scene cleanup and the re-opening of the intersection area to traffic continued late in the 1:00 hour, with responding units returning to their respective communities steadily as the afternoon continued.

KCNI/KBBN will report further on this accident when more information is made available by authorities.
