Scenic Byway Conference coming to Broken Bow

The One Box Convention Center in Broken Bow will be bustling in a matter of days.

The Center will host the National Scenic Byway annual conference on Saturday, February 8th. Tammy Hendrickson with the Custer County Museum in Broken Bow joined KCNI/KBBN on the Breakfast Show recently and mentioned some of the day’s highlights.

“Their theme is ‘Out and About on the Byway’. It’s open to anybody to come. The conference is twenty five dollars. The evening does have entertainment, a meal, and awards.”

Hendrickson mentioned they’re looking for a few more volunteers for the Museum and the Barn. She said they’re looking for old rural school pictures to highlight Custer County’s 150th anniversary.

”I’m seeking a picture of the schoolhouse as a completion to our 150th in ‘27. The county’s 150th in ‘27 is a part of that, of using those pictures to say here’s all of our 284 schools—that’s a lot!”

The Scenic Byway will commence their annual business meeting at 1pm on February 8th, followed by a local community showcase, Carmen Minnick with Carhenge, and Karen Wyatt Drevo is the humanities guest speaker.

Social hour begins at 5pm, followed by the banquet, entertainment and awards.
