According to Conni Gracey, Custer County Clerk, the Sargent School District held a meeting on the morning of Monday, September 26. The purpose of the meeting was to set a date for the recall election of Sargent School District Board members Laura Kipp, Tammera Moody, Loyd Pointer, and Marty Riddle. However, Ms. Gracey said the school district failed to set that recall election date during Monday’s meeting. The school district will now meet on Monday, October 2nd in order to set the date. Due to the delay in setting a date, the recall election cannot be held in November as originally considered.
Earlier this month, enough valid signatures were verified by the Custer County Clerk’s Office on the petitions that were submitted to recall the four board members. In July of 2023, the recall effort was mounted after the Sargent School Board voted earlier this year not to retain Cory Grint as principal for the 2023-24 school year.
