Sargent school board member recall mail-in election set for December

After unsuccessfully setting a date for the recall election of four Sargent School Board members on September 26, the district was successful in doing so at a meeting Monday October 2.

According to Custer County Clerk Conni Gracey, an election date of December 12 has been set. Petitioners gathered the required signatures in mid September to force said vote to decide if board members Laura Kipp, Tammera Moody, Loyd Pointer, and Marty Riddle should be retained as board members.

Gracey told KCNI/KBBN that the election will be mail-in and that she will be placing the ballots in the mail on November 20. Voters will find that each school board member vote will require a selection of its own on the ballot.

Ballots are due back to the clerk’s office by the end of the business day on December 12. Voters have the option of returning their ballots in the mail, into the drop box in the back parking lot at the Custer County Courthouse, or in the box inside the office during business hours Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.
