BROKEN BOW – The Sandhill’s Journey National Scenic Byway  (SJNCB) will be hosting its annual conference on January 20 at the One Box Convention Center.

Conference tickets are $25 per person or $55 per person with the purchase of a 2024 membership. Ticket prices do include a meal, which will be provided by a local vendor.

Linda Teahon, president of the Sandhills Journey National Scenic Byway told KCNI/KBBN what can be expected to happen at the annual conference.

“We’d like for people to come and bring some new ideas for a Byway. From 1-5 p.m., we will have a showcase of vendors to show their goods and things that are unique to our area. We will have some authors, some book authors. We will have speakers throughout the afternoon at the One Box talking about Sod Houses. And so we have several speakers to talk about their experiences they have with the sod houses they have on their ranches.” said Teahon

Tammy Hendrickson with the Custer County Museum will also have a Solomon Butcher display.

Teahon encourages members of the public to come to the conference to put their input in about the Byway.

“We need their input as to where our Byway is headed. We are very busy with tourism throughout the year, in mainly summer. We encourage people to travel the Byway and see what the Byway has to offer. We are unique. 272 miles from Alliance to Grand Island or Grand Island to Alliance, whatever direction you are going.”

Everyone is welcome to attend, reservations need to be made by January 12.

To make reservations or to inquire about being a vendor, you are invited to call Linda Teahon at 308-430-0786.
