Bret M. Samuelson, age 41 of Arnold, appeared in Custer County Court on Monday, January 26th for a preliminary hearing to determine probable cause in his case. Samuelson is charged with one count of child abuse, intentionally causing injury, a Class II felony. The case stems is from an August 20th report made to the Custer County Sheriff about a three-year old who suffered a significant injury to her back. After hearing sworn testimony from two witnesses, Judge Tami Schendt ruled that the State had presented evidence showing a crime had been committed and the defendant likely committed the crime. The case was bound over to Custer County District Court where Samuelson will be arraigned on February 5th.
