Salvation Army Book Bag Giveaway Returns to Municipal Building 8/3

BROKEN BOW –  The Custer County Salvation Army’s annual Back-to-School Book Bag and School Supplies Giveaway will return to the Broken Bow Municipal Building on Wednesday, Aug. 3, from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Recently, a drive-up event was held in various locations due to Covid, according to Salvation Army chairman Julie Toline.

This year’s project will once again return to the Municipal Building, where children will be able to select backpacks and school supplies while supplies last. All children must be accompanied by an adult and doors will not open until 4 p.m.

The annual Giveaway is aimed at helping Custer County families who otherwise may not be able to cover back-to-school expenses, Toline said. Backpacks are supplied by the Omaha office of the Salvation Army. Funds for school supplies come from the Cliff Luther Endowment, bell ringing donations, and community contributions.

Anyone wishing to support this local project can contact Toline at the Broken Bow Police Department, at 308-872-6424.
