Recap of Custer County Court held August 26, 2024

Custer County Court was in session on Monday, August 26th with Judge Tami Schendt presiding.

Kindra A. Hauser Potter, age 32 of Broken Bow, made her first appearance on two different criminal cases. In the first case, Hauser Potter is charged with Count I—1st degree forgery, a Class III felony, and Count II—1st degree forgery, a Class III felony. Both counts stem from alleged crimes that occurred in April 2020. In the second case, Hauser Potter faces nine counts—7 felonies and 2 misdemeanors. Counts I-III are all 1st degree forgeries, Class III felonies; Count IV is for 2nd degree forgery, a Class IV felony; Count V is 2nd degree forgery, a Class I misdemeanor; Count VI is 2nd degree forgery, a Class IIA felony; Counts VII is theft by deception, a Class IIA felony; Count VIII is theft by deception, a Class I misdemeanor; and Count IX is a charge of making a false statement, a Class IV felony. These charges allegedly occurred during a time frame from November 2019 to April 2020. Preliminary hearings for both cases were set for October 7, 2024 at 2:30 p.m.

Making his first appearance on Monday was Cole Christensen, age 26 of Lincoln. Christensen is facing Count I—flight to avoid arrest, a Class IV felony and Count II—2nd offense DUI, aggravated, a Class I misdemeanor. The alleged crimes occurred on August 20, 2024. A public defender was appointed and a bond review was held. Judge Schendt did not reduce the bond that remains at $10,000 with a 10% privilege. A preliminary hearing for Christensen was set for September 9th at 2:30.
